Welcome Home Troops!!

Troops fly into DFW every day - so on Dec. 31, I decided to help welcome them home!! 200 troops from Iraq and Afghanistan landed to start their 2 weeks of R&R. They arrived to a crowd of supporters waving flags, cheering and shaking hands! I loved it! Go to the site welcomehomeahero.com to get more info!!

Tour of Cowboys Stadium

Yes, I went to Cowboys Stadium again. On Dec. 29, Susan and I took a tour. Last year about this time, we toured Texas Stadium...so it was a tradition we just couldn't pass up!

While we were annoyed the field didn't have the famous star in the middle (they were getting ready for the Cotton Bowl), we were impressed to see the Cowboys were actually having a practice. DeMarcus Ware waved at me TWO times when I yelled at him...so cool!

Two Extremes

What a day...on December 18, I saw 2 extremes in the world. In the morning, my roommate (Susan) and I served food at Operation Care's Gift of Christmas. This is an event that provides food, clothing, medical care, hair cuts, toys, and other necesseties to the homeless and families in need. So sad to see the thousands of people coming through the lines and it was an honor to serve and visit with them. In the afternoon, my daddy and I went to Cowboys Stadium to see 3 high school state play-off games. So grand and big and in excess. I love the Cowboys and know they need a stadium, but I couldn't shake the scenes I saw in the morning. Below are some photos from both events.

Princess Party at 35!!!

What better way to celebrate my 35th birthday than in Princess Style?!?!?! I love theme parties and I love princesses...so we combined the two on Dec 11. Christy and Susan planned the festivities and I loved it! Everyone looked like beautiful princesses!! The bottom pic is of some dear friends of mine (Lindsey, Michele, Susan, Christy, and Melinda) celebrating on my actual birthday!!!

Time to Blog

Hi Friends! For quite some time, I have wanted to create a blog so people can read about what's going on with me...more than just the small posts on Facebook! So, here we go! G'Day from Sandy Land will be a random selection of things - highlights of what's going on with me, random thoughts, things I find funny, things God is teaching me and a way for people in the US and Australia to know more about me!!
